Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy

Despite their impressive legacy, prime vineyard holdings, and wines known for their consistency and longevity, Harmand-Geoffroy remains refreshingly humble. It's hard to imagine a better bottle to kick off the week!

Their vineyards span 9 hectares of exclusively Pinot Noir grapes, carefully cultivated within the boundaries of Gevrey Chambertin. The viticulture is rooted in tradition, with a steadfast commitment to quality: no herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or insecticides are used, and de-budding and manual harvesting are practiced to eliminate unwanted growth. The vinification process is equally time-honored, with 100% destemming, cold maceration extending to up to five days, and cuvaison lasting 15-21 days depending on the 'cru' and vintage. The wines are then aged for approximately 16 months on the fine lees in small oak barrels, some new, before being bottled without filtration.

What I’m doing here at the domaine is not very different from what my father did. It’s more a matter of style. He was more about power, whereas I’m focusing on the fruit. Vinification is very traditional. ' Just next to Clos Prieur, you’ll find La Perrière, one of the four premier crus of Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy. Philippe Harmand owns the part which is bordering on Clos Prieur and this site is what gives way to today's wine.
